Our Tenancy Sustainability Team recently took a group of customers and staff to a jewellery making class at Vanilla Ink Studios in Glasgow.
Vanilla Ink’s jewellery making courses are a form of therapy for escapism and create a real sense of achievement. The customers and staff who attended the course made a sterling silver stacking ring and used lots of different tools in the process.
Tenancy Sustainability Team Leader, Clair Christie organised the outing and hopes to extend this programme to other customers in the future. Clair said, “We loved every minute of the course and seeing our customers getting some rare time out for themselves was a humbling experience for our staff. We are hoping to work with Vanilla Ink in the future to bring this type of session into our communities.”
Riverside Scotland customer, Chelsea said, “It was brilliant getting to meet other people in a similar situation. I loved it and would love to go back again. I was proud that I was able to make my own ring.”
Housing Officer, Carmen said, “I really enjoyed our course at Vanilla Ink. I found the ladies that were taking the course very helpful, and they made us feel completely at ease. I was really fascinated at the way the jewellery is made and very impressed with how it turned out. I found the course so therapeutic, and it helped me to relax and forget about my worries and stress for a while.”
Ellie, Director at Vanilla Ink said, “What fantastic and very special group of ladies – love that moment when someone says WOW I made that!! What a joy to see all the excitement, positivity and sense of achievement in the class! Can’t wait to do more with you guys!”
